Cornwall Timber Wolves capture the 2007 Potato Bowl by defeating the defending Champions, Island Construction Colonels 43-13
1st Quarter:
The Wolves opened the scoring with Mattie Harris returning a Colonels punt from deep in Wolves end zone, 110 yard TD run as well as adding a second TD run later in the second quarter.
Convert good by Jeff Trowsdale: Score 7-0 at end of 1st quarter
2nd Quarter:
QB, Mike Hoy of the Timber Wolves threw a 3 yard TD pass to Jeremy Avery.
Convert good by Jeff Trowsdale: Score 21-0
After the kick off with less than 30 sec left in the half, Jeff Hillier of the Colonels returned the kickoff 55 yards for the Colonels first TD. It provided the Colonels a must need lift and some montiuem going into the second half.
Half end 21-7 Timber Wolves over the Colonels
3rd quarter
Colonels conceded 1 point in their own end zone from the Wolves great kicker Jeff Trowsdale. Score 22-7
The Colonels came out strong and showed why they are defending champions, Chris Wigmore through a 2 yard TD pass to Adam McDonald to bring the Colonels to within reach of the Timber Wolves, 21-13 but that is as close as the Colonels would come.
Just before the end the of the 3rd quarter, Wolves great running back Ernie Carranza, got his 1st of three TD runs of the day and extended the Wolves lead, 22-13
4th Quarter:
Ernie Carranza ran for two more TD’s, one from 5 yards and the other from 1 yard out. Jeff Trowsdale continued with his excellent kicking ability and both converts were good. Colonels could not respond as the Wolves front defensive four were too much for them to handle.
Game Ended 43-13
