The Cornwall Timber Wolves advance to next weeks Potato Bowl with a 27-6 victory of the Cooke Clippers.
The TimberWolves scored 27 unanswered points en route to their victory over the Cooke Clippers in the Aliant Tackle Football League semifinal game Friday night.
After a scoreless 1 st quarter, Brock Lamers scampered 95 yards for the first score of the game which gave the Clippers a 6-0 lead. Convert missed. This was only the second time all year the Wolves were ever behind.
The Wolves would answer with Mattie Harris's 2 yard run tied the game and Wolves took the lead with the convert made by Jeff Trowsdale.
The turning point in the game came with 10 seconds remaining in the second half. The Clippers missed a 30 yard field attempt and Mattie Harris of the Wolves made a 115 yard TD return from his own end zone to give the Wolves a 14-6 advantage at half time.
Ernie Cananza'a 2 yard TD run & successful convert made it 21-6 at the end of the 3 rd quarter.
Tom Lund's two yard TD run late in the 4 th quarter, convert missed secured the victory and sent the Wolves to the Potato Bowl.
Monday, Nov 12 at Cornwall Football Field @ 2:00PM, the Island Construction Colonels will face the dominate Cornwall Timber Wolves in the Potato Bowl.
The Lobster Bowl will go on Saturday, Nov 10, Cornwall Field @ 2:00PM, the Souris Wild Cats will square off against the Cooke Clippers.
