No scoring in the 1st quarter.

 

The Cooke Insurance Clippers scored first late in the 2nd quarter with Justin Murphy on a QB bootleg for the 1st TD. Convert was also made by #7, Justin Murphy.

 

1st half ends 7-0 for Clippers over the Colonels. The play was fairly even through out the game with all star running back Jeff Hillier carrying the load for the Colonels offense. For the Clippers is was a case of missed opportunities, a number of dropped passes kept the game a lot closer that it was in the first half. The Clippers defense stood tall and kept the Colonels off the score board. #22 of the Clippers, Darcy Burt, made numerous open field tackles, keeping the Colonels running game from scoring.

 

Early in 3rd quarter #21, Jeff Hillier of the Colonels, ran in their first 1st TD of the game, they went for the two points but failed.

 

Score at the end of the 3rd quarter, 7-6 for Clippers.

 

Colonels on a 4th and 20, run a reverse with #34, Adam McDonald, showing his blazing speed and scored the 2nd TD of the game for the colonels. Colonels QB, Taylor Doyle on a roll out, threw a 5 yard pass to #61, Kyle Osmond, for the two point conversion.

 

Score 14-7 Colonels over the Clippers

 

Clippers are on the march with time running out. With Clippers QB, Justin Murphy throwing a screen to #44, where Forest with strong running got the ball to the 5 yard line with 1:18 left to play. Clippers QB on another bootleg ran it from 5 yards for the Clippers 2nd TD of the game. Justin Murphy of the Clippers made the convert. Score now tied 14-14 with 42 seconds left in the game.

 

On the following kick off Colonels fumbled the ball and Clippers took over on the Colonels 40 yard line. Clippers were able to move the ball to the 20 yard line where they attempted a field goal with 3.1 seconds left. Field Goal was wide but was long enough and went out of bounds in the end zone. Clippers score 1 point.

 

The Clippers win 15-14 in a thrilling back and forth hard hitting game.

 

Clippers improve to 1-1 with the Colonels drop to 0-2
