Clippers win 2 in a row! 21-14

 

The Cooke Insurance Clippers for the second week in a row claim victory over the Colonels with less than 40 seconds left in each game. It looked like the Clippers were going to run away with the game opening with two quick TD’s but that is where the Colonels defense stood tall and allowed no more until 33.7 seconds left in the game where Justin Murphy, Clipper QB ran in for the go ahead TD which sealed the victory.

 

It was a great night for Clippers QB, Justin Murphy, ran for 2TD’s as well threw a 40 yard TD pass to #88 Adam Lea. All three converts were converted also by Justin Murphy. On the defensive side #22, Darcy Burt & #91 Byron Champion of the Clippers continue to make great open field tackles, stopping a number of the Colonels drives. The Clippers #55 Dakota Dawson & #57 Jeff McFarlane also recorded a QB sacks.

 

1st Quarter:

 

#7, Justin Murphy of the Clippers, ran for one TD and threw a 40 yard pass to #88, Adam Lea for the second TD, both converts were good. Clippers lead after 1st Quarter 14-0.

 

2nd Quarter:

 

Colonel’s started to show some life with #34, Adam McDonald in as running back, scoring the Colonels 1st TD just before the half.. Two point conversion was attempted but unsuccessful. It appeared that the Colonels All Star running back, Jeff Hillier, was injured as he was not able to show his usual dominate running game. Jeff played but had limited time in the Colonels backfield.

Clippers 14 – Colonels 6

 

3rd Quarter: No scoring

 

4th Quarter:

 

Colonels QB, #14, Taylor Doyle, threw a TD pass to #34 Adam McDonald which brought the Colonels within 2 points. Once again, with Adam McDonald’s speed he was able to run in for the two point conversion to tie the game 14-14 with 4:30 seconds left in the game.

 

The Clippers took control and was able to use up valuable game time, running the clock down to 33.7 seconds when #7, Justin Murphy ran in for the final and game winning TD. Convert was kicked by Justin Murphy, Clippers win 21-14.

 

This game was offensively between the QB of the Clippers, Justin Murphy and #34 Adam McDonald of the Colonels. Each keeping their team in the game. Both get game MVP honors for their efforts.
