Wildcats have a perfect season : 47-8

ROLLO BAY: The chilly Saturday afternoon in Rollo Bay didn't get any warmer for the Cornwall Timberwolves during their matchup with the Souris Wildcats as the defending champions started quickly and didn't let up.  AJ MacInnis opened the scoring for Souris early in the opening frame on a pitch from starting quarterback Graeme Forrest.  The point after from Drew MacInnis was good making the score 7-0.  The Souris defense was strong throughout the day and once the Wildcats went on offense again Nathan Conway scored on a pass from Forrest to up the score but the point after was blocked making the score 13-0.  Jonathan Gallant added to the total early in the 2nd quarter, the MacInnis convert was good 20-0 Souris.  The next Souris possession turned out to be the end of the afternoon for Souris quarterback Graeme Forrest as he suffered a knee injury, he came off the field under his own power but did not return.  He was replaced by 2008 MVP Ben MacIsaac, who led the
  Wildcats down the field, the drive was finished by Mitchell MacKinnon's 2 yard plunge, but when he spiked the ball in the end zone the resulting penalty pushed back the convert attempt 15 yards where MacInnis hit the crossbar, score 26-0 Souris.  The Souris defense then shut down the Timberwolves next attempt, but the punt was returned by Jonathan Gallant for another score, this time the convert was good, making the score at the half 33-0 for Souris.

The second half started well for Cornwall as Timberwolves' quarterback Phillip Lanthier completed the initial drive with a TD pass to Chris Barrett, on the 2 point conversion attempt he was good to Spencer Jay to make the score 33-8.  They maintained the score throughout the 3rd quarter but early in the fourth the Wildcats caught the Cornwall defense napping with a 54 yard reverse play by Drew MacInnis, he then kicked the point after to bring the score to 40-8.  Minutes later Paul MacDonald became the sixth Souris player to score on the afternoon as he brought the ball in from the one yard line, the convert was good to finish the scoring with a 47-8 final for the Souris Wildcats over the Cornwall Timberwolves.  The Wildcats finish the season at 6-0, having clinched first the week earlier and await the outcome of the Summerside/Colonels game to find out their opponent for the playoff game November 1st in Rollo Bay.
