Wolves Upset Colonels

 

The Cornwall Timber Wolves upset Island Construction Colonels 17-14 at UPEI Field, Sept 21/07

 

TimberWolves opened the scoring with Ernesto Carranza pushing it over from the three yard line, covert was made by Golden Foot Jeff Trowsdale. Colonels answered shortly after with QB Drew Reid hooking up with Jeff Hillier with a short pass and ran for 30 yards for Colonels first score. Convert missed.

 

The 1st quarter ended with Wolves leading 7-6.

 

In the second quarter Colonels took the lead with a great 45 yard run for TD by Jeff Hillier and Colonels were able to make the two point conversion. The Colonels defense with strong play from Evan Giddings, shut down the Wolves for the rest of the half.

 

The first half ends with Colonels leading 14-7 and for the most part controlled the half.

 

The second half was a different story, the Wolves rookie QB, (quick feet) Nick Jones, kicker Jeff Trousdale along with the hard nose in your face running by Ernesto Carranza made the difference. In the first portion of the 3rd quarter Nick Jones made a statement, threw a 50 yard bomb to Mathew Harris who took it in for the score along with Jeff Trowsdale making the single point conversion. The score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 14-14 with the Wolves taking control of the game and field position. The Wolves defense started to come around, the front line stood tall with Aaron Ellis & Jordan Johnson shutting down the Colonels running game and putting pressure on QB Drew Reid.

 

Midway through the 4th quarter, Thomas Lund of the Wolves came up with a huge interception which put the Wolves back in control. With minutes left in the game, golden foot, Jeff Trowsdale kicked a field goal from 27 yards to put the Wolves in front and to secure the victory.
